Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery plans growth with Cybake

Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, was established in 1914.
In the 1970s, a bakery was added to the farm which today specializes in a wide variety of high-quality products, including cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, muffins, breads, and hermit cookies, a classic old fashioned molasses spiced cookie with raisins.
Now run by the fifth generation of the family, the business operates the original Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery store, Wright’s Creamery in nearby Providence, which also sells its baked goods, and two vintage The Wright Scoop ice cream trailers.
The business also supplies its bakery products, milk and ice cream to grocery stores and small farm stands throughout the state on a wholesale basis.
Before switching to Cybake, the company tried to implement a competitor’s bakery management system but quickly discovered it didn’t align with its long-term goals.
Samantha Roberts, finance director at Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery (pictured, second from left), says: “That first system had a lot of good features, but it was clearly developed decades ago—it didn’t feel like a step forward. With Cybake, we get the future-ready tools we need to grow.”
Looking for an alternative, the company first reached out to Cybake and went live with their new system in November 2024.
“We were looking for something purpose-built for bakeries—not a generic system,” says Samantha. “Cybake gave us exactly what we needed: visibility, structure, and ease of use.”
Cybake now powers daily operations in the bakery, helping the team manage production, orders, and inventory with accuracy and efficiency. With over 100 bakery products and a variety of custom cake options, they are currently working hard with the help of Cybake to put in recipes to be able to use the system to streamline production planning.
Samantha says: “Our goal is to be able to use Cybake to give us the structure to grow without losing our family roots.”
Efficiencies
Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery has been able to build efficiencies through its wholesale route and invoicing using Cybake’s driver delivery app. The next major development is the implementation of Cybake’s retail forecasting module, which will work seamlessly with the farm’s Toast POS system.
Cate Kennedy, food operations manager at Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery (pictured, second from right), explains: “One of the biggest reasons we chose Cybake was its integration with Toast. The fact that Cybake is cloud-based and has a modern, user-friendly interface was also extremely important to us.”
The forecasting module will allow Wright’s to better predict demand and improve replenishment, ensuring that shelves are stocked and loyal customers are never disappointed by out-of-stocks.
Samantha adds: “The team at Cybake has been fantastic—especially Rich Browning, who’s part of the UK-based support team. It’s been a real pleasure working with him and his colleagues here in the US. We’ve had fun comparing the differences and similarities between UK and US bakeries.”
That transatlantic bakery connection came to life during a recent visit from Cybake’s operations director, Martin Coyle (pictured, far right), who had the chance to tour the Wrights’ farm facility and sample its goods.
Martin says: “It was incredible to see how smoothly the dairy and bakery sides work together. But the real surprise? Spotting Eccles cakes in the bakery case! I couldn’t believe it—I move halfway across the world and find this very British treat from the North West of England.
“Of course, I had to try one. It was flatter and bigger than the UK version, but still had that buttery pastry, spiced fruit filling, and sugar nib topping. I have to say, I preferred it to the home-grown version”.
