Cybake users clear up at Baking Industry Awards

September 6, 2018

Cybake users were big winners at this year’s Baking Industry Awards. Huge congratulations to Paul Rhodes, Warrens Bakery and Village Bakery.

Paul Rhodes, founder of London’s Paul Rhodes Bakery, won the coveted Baker of the Year. The Michelin-starred chef started his eponymous venture in 2003 and has built an impressive wholesale empire.

With their distinctive livery, Paul Rhodes vans are a familiar site in the capital as they whizz around delivering to its top hotels, restaurants and delis. There are also two shops in Greenwich and Notting Hill. The firm’s reputation is based on Paul’s dedication to real craft bakery, the use of heritage grain flours being just one example. Although the Cybake team are bit biased, we think this is a very well deserved win.

We were also pretty biased towards three of this year’s seven Craft Bakery Business award finalists. All three use Cybake and were regional winners in their own right: Just Desserts (North); Paul Rhodes Bakery (South East); and Warrens Bakery (South West).

Penzance-based powerhouse Warrens won. A massive well done to the whole team there. The world’s oldest Cornish pasty maker is now one of the top three bakery retailers in the UK and we’ve been delighted to be part of its success.

Another of our largest customers scooped two further awards at the BIA awards. Wrexham’s Village Bakery won the Free-From award for 2018 for its Made without Wheat Belgian Chocolate Twists developed for another of our users, M&S. What’s more, the wholesale firm’s incomparable founder Alan Jones won this year’s Outstanding Contribution to the Baking Industry award. Kudos to all at Coedpoeth.
