Is your bakery facing a move to the cloud?
August 18, 2026
If you use one of our competitors’ systems to manage your bakery, you may have only recently been given the option to migrate to a cloud version of their software.
If this is the case, I would suggest that your system provider isn’t just late to the cloud computing party, it may have missed it altogether. And now could be a good time to look for an alternative.
Put it this way. At Cybake, we first started to develop cloud-based apps in 2014. Cybake became a cloud-only offering in 2018, that’s when we simply stopped selling the old on-premises version.
This switch was the result of a huge investment of time, skills, and money. We knew this effort was worth it to serve our customers properly and exploit the mobility, ease-of-use and heavy number crunching the cloud offered.
Over the next few years, over 99% of our customers happily migrated to Cybake’s new and improved version. Plus, the cloud model enabled us to sell Cybake to bakeries around the world, triple our customer base, and keep on improving our product on a continuous basis.
Along the way, we have successfully migrated hundreds of bakeries from competitors’ systems to Cybake with the minimum of fuss and bother. It is one of our specialities, we have been at it for eight solid years, and our implementation team have got it down to a straightforward five-step process.
It would be wrong, though, to claim that the move from one system to another will always be seamless. Bakeries are busy and complex, and each has their own individual requirements.
But if there is to be disruption, a switch to Cybake means that it will be well-planned. A forced march to your current supplier’s new system may mean that such disruptions are more unforeseen and chaotic.
Some of our competitors originally dodged the cloud issue by moving their users to hosted services running the same old-school software. Long loading times, frequent crashes, and other outages would appear to be common experiences with this type of set up.
So, whether you are running your bakery management software in-house or from a hosted environment, the question remains. If your vendor is only now offering you a move to the cloud in 2026, how much confidence can you have in their system?
Is it best to stay and function as a guinea pig for their shiny new project, or would it be better to migrate away to a mature cloud system that has been tried, tested and approved by just shy of five hundred companies like your own?
